Private student dormitory in Warsaw — what you need to know
Warsaw is the largest academic centre in Poland. By the end of 2024, 262,700 students were enrolled at Warsaw universities, and the number has grown steadily over recent years. One in eight students in the capital is a foreign citizen — a total of 33,900 international students, making Warsaw the most international academic city in the country.
Approximately 12,000 students live in Warsaw's 51 university-operated dormitories. That means only about 4.6% of all Warsaw students secure a place in a public dormitory — based on our own calculation from data published by the Statistical Office in Warsaw. The remaining majority — over 250,000 people — must find accommodation outside the university system.
